Regional Information
The Douro valley is one of the most challenging wine-growing regions. Its mountainous terrain & steep winding valleys create a microclimate producing unique wines. The Marlo range, which rises to 1,400m, ensures the region is protected from the influences of the Atlantic. The temperatures fall below freezing in winter & consistently climb above 30C in summer. These harsh conditions are ideal for making wines of great power & concentration. Steep gradients preclude machinery, all grapes being handpicked.

Vinification Details
The grapes come primarily from five ‘A’ grade classified Quintas, amongst the best in the Upper Douro Valley. Sitting in the heart of the Upper Douro Valley, these Quintas enjoy an ideal combination of a hot and dry micro-climate, coupled with a unique schist soil that provide the best conditions for growing and optimal ripening.
